“The Stone House is one of the most lavish country houses we have ever visited. Dating back to 1825, and fitting proudly in manicured English-style gardens overlooking the South Esk River, this grand heritage-listed Georgian treasure is an exceptional example of the exquisite craftsmanship of the period. But it has taken the passion of its current custodians to transform it once again into a magnificent Tasmanian escape for those wanting the finer things in life, yet with a relaxed country house feel.

Naturally, guests have the entire estate to themselves. Step inside and discover a treasure trove of exquisite Georgian-style furniture interspersed with Asian treasures. The grand rooms do not disappoint: the formal dining room has a butler’s pantry, the sitting room invites with an open fire, the lush eat-in kitchen gleams with a French cooker and black granite bench tops, and there’s even a separate TV room and a fully fitted office. A new addition is the extraordinary conservatory with its walls of glass opening onto the swimming pool, hot tub and various garden rooms at the back.

Back inside, there are four exquisite bedrooms (each with an ensuite or their own private bathroom) plus an extra one-bedroom wing if you need space for 10. If you love history with absolute luxury, you’ll love The Stone House as much as we do.”
